§ 22-57. Notification required.

  • (a)

    Any industry, trade, or commerce, prior to conducting any business that requires equipment to pass through unpaved sections of county rights-of-way to load and/or unload materials of any nature, other than for the harvesting and/or removal of standing timber, shall be required to obtain a permit from the county building and zoning office. Under this section, a separate permit is required for every access point on any section of the county road system and respective rights-of-way, unless such access points are on the same tract of land. The permit must be completed by the applicant in its entirety.

    (b)

    Upon notification, the public works department and/or code enforcement representative shall inspect the site to determine if any special provisions are required. Periodic inspections of the site may also require special provisions. Special provisions include, but are not limited to, the following;

    (1)

    Installation of a culvert.

    (2)

    Use of crushed stone (gravel) or its equivalent.

    (3)

    Use of advanced warning signs for traffic flow.

    (c)

    Any special provision required by the public works department and/or code enforcement representative shall be installed by the firm or company as directed, and at the expense of the firm or company.

    (d)

    No permit shall be issued to any applicant who has failed to satisfy any bonding requirements imposed, or has not satisfactorily completed repairs and cleanup from any previously approved site for said applicant's agents.
